Freedom of Speech violated-the word “Nigger” banned; TAKE A STAND FOR YOUR COUNTRY
One of my previous topics seen here discusses briefly the Patriot Act, and how it infringes on our right of privacy, not our freedom of, as our wonderful president Mr. G. W. seems to think it should be. The topic also briefly discussed education and the wrongs of the No Child Left Behind Act. But today I bring to you a very important topic at hand which has been covered multiple times across the media-but not enough. This is the issue of our freedom of Speech.

“It’s a dark day in NYC. Yesterday, the city of New York literally banned the use of the word nigger, in hopes to perhaps erase the slur from everyday use by musicians, Television, and more importantly, it’s citizens.”

Now if that is not in violation of the Civil Rights, then what is? This has simply gone too far. I recently stated in another students WordPress blog, here;
“Soon we’ll all be eating with chop sticks and plastic forks, when the banning of metal silverware comes into place…someday.”
This issue dealt with the topic of schools banning certain internet sites from students access at school on school equipment. However this same phrase above that I stated could just as well come into effect not only in schools, but nation wide. I may be exaggerating a bit, but it gets the point across. How far must it go until all our rights are violated-gone? Our privacy is already gone, a right to a good education is quickly deteriorating, and now the issue of freedom of speech is at hand? This is absolutely disgusting. This never should have happened in the first place. If it is a dictatorial country where only the wealthy capitalists are the top that you want to live in, then the United States is well on its sad way. However, if you agree with me, you will do something. Take a stand and speak out before it is to late. Someday, freedom of speech will not be an issue anymore, because;

Let’s take a couple of hypothetical situations.
1-A woman who isn’t a ’slut’ gets called a ’slut’. Unless said woman has low self-esteem, she will be unaffected by this.
2-A woman who IS a ’slut’ gets called a ’slut’. Chances are she’ll be offended and embarrassed by it.
Think about the difference in the effect of the word when it is untrue as opposed to when it’s true.
Words that describe someone, like; bitch, whore, prick, emo, loser, trailer-trash, lame, creepy, useless, ugly, fat, pale, smelly, disgusting…
If used with feelings behind them, they can be devastating when true.
Skinheads and KKK-like people aside, for most who would use the word in a derogatory, emotionally-charged derogatory sense, the word means, “useless, uneducated, boisterous, slack-jawed, welfare-mooching, drug-using, crime-committing, race-card playing, drain on society, with no reason to continue living”.
Wouldn’t it be safe to say that only people who fit one or more of those qualities would be offended by the word?
Wouldn’t a respectable black family with good jobs, respectful children, a nice house, non-tricked-out cars, two dogs, and living in a well-kept home not give two shits about some idiot calling them a word that doesn’t pertain to them?
As far as the ‘history’ goes… get over it! No one cares that your ancestors were slaves. I can 100 percent say that no one any of us have ever seen has owned a slave, so it’s not like you can blame ANYONE ALIVE for the suffering of your ancestors. You’re already getting more opportunities to be a productive part of society than any other minority just because of your skin color!
It’s a word! If the word doesn’t pertain to you, it has NO power over you, nor can it affect you in any way…
In closing, I hope there are a TON of you out there who are offended by this closing statement.

i think that people in the kkk and skinheads should have freedom of speech because most black people at my school just think they can beat up everyone. they think they are all that and better than everyone. even though there are white people who are just the same but black people think if a teacher gives them and f then they will automatically think its a racism thing and thats annoying. if people wouldnt have gangs and guns etc., then other people wouldn’t judge the whole entire race.
Many blacks believe the word nigger is expectable. Unfortunately they are mainly individuals who were not truly affected by the racism of earlier times. For those of you that believe the world is expectable to be used amongst your own race. Take the time to sit with your Grandparents who suffered the racial slurs of ignorance and stupidity and ask them if they would want to be called a nigger today…
Remember this: out of sight out of mind. If the word was never to be spoken again, just maybe 10 possibly 20 years from now it will seize to exist.
Something to think about!?
It is true, that after twenty years of non-usage the word “nigger” would disappear from from our collective vocabulary. Problem is, it is not experiencing “non-usage”. If you tell the public that the word “ukulele” is a bad word, and should not be used, there will be an unprecedented explosion of ukulelisms in media and in general conversation.
“Nigger”, along with it’s more urbane buddy “nigga” is common parlance among quite a few black people, not as a racial slur but, in fact, as an identifying pronoun, and even a term of endearment. This is why I think of it as a racist term: It is racist AGAINST white people. Think about it. Here is a word which white people are not allowed to use by virtue of the color of their skin. That is both racist and a violation of freedom of speech.
I will use any word I choose, in any situation I choose, with any person I choose because I am free to do so.
Incidently, I am descended from a union soldier who died in the Battle of Chancellorsville. Where are my reparations?
